So, I have a few words to say about this one. This is album art from the Dresden Dolls’ album “Yes, Virgina,” which I was lent by a good friend of mine. I’d never heard or heard of them before, and there are, on a few of the tracks, TWO FEMALE voices singing. So I saw this picture, and the black-and-white photograph just inside the insert, and assumed, “Dresden Dolls=two women.”
In reality, this is Brian Viglione, a man who plays drums and many other things and whose Wikipedia ”profile picture” is this:
…which answers the question most, most definitively.
(If I were Neil Gaiman, I’d be kind of nervous. Just saying.)
The last thing I have to say about this is that after I knew for certain (quite, quite certain) that the Dresden Dolls consisted of a man and a woman, I looked back at the drawings in the insert and realized something:
That the biggest difference, apart from accesories, is the fullness of their eybrows. Amanda Palmer has tiny little pluck-ed looking eyebrows. Brian Viglione has thick, full eyebrows. So next time I get confused, I’ll look at the eyebrows. I’ll let you know if that proves an effective meter.
